About Our Mulled Liqueur
Mulled Liqueur – A Scottish Christmas Liqueur
20% ABV · 50cl and 20cl
Our Mulled Liqueur is our Blackcurrant Liqueur steeped with six winter spices. Mulled wine starts with red wine. Ours starts with blackcurrants, in a liqueur Great Taste judges likened to a pinot noir, so the spices have rich, dark fruit to sit on.
We steep the spices for four days while the spirit is still strong, because alcohol draws out flavour far better than water. Then we take the spices out, bring it down to 20% and sweeten it with demerara sugar, which adds a light caramel note.
Why Choose Tayport Distillery’s Mulled Liqueur?
- Six Whole Spices – Cassia, cloves, allspice, star anise, ginger root and orange peel, steeped for four days.
- Real Ingredients, Full Flavour –
No artificial flavourings or concentrates. Real blackcurrants and whole spices, steeped for four days. - Naturally Spiced Character – Deep berry flavour with gentle spice and citrus notes, perfect for Christmas.
- Versatile Winter Serve – Top it with Prosecco for a Mulled Kir Royale, pour it over crushed ice in a Christmas Bramble, or add a splash to a glass of mulled wine.
- Made Only for Christmas – In 50cl, or 20cl for a stocking filler.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Bright blackcurrant is layered with gentle spice — citrus and cassia come through clearly, complemented by aromatic clove and star anise.
Palate
Rich fruit character from the blackcurrants is supported by a soft spice profile. Notes of cinnamon, ginger, and allspice round out the flavour without overpowering the fruit.
Finish
Clean and warming, with fruit and spice in balance. A lasting reminder of winter gatherings and good company.
