Discover the Best Autumn Activities in Scotland
Autumn is a magical time in Scotland, offering a myriad of activities for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're seeking a family day out, scenic walks, or a memorable adult's day, Scotland has something for everyone. Here are our top recommendations for enjoying this beautiful season:
Great for a Family Day Out
Deer Centre, Cupar: Take a short drive into the Scottish countryside and introduce your kids to the local wildlife. At the Deer Center, you can feed the animals, try the Kart Track, or embark on a thrilling Tree Top Walk. If you prefer public transport, accessible bus and train links are available.
Maspie Den, Falkland: Nestled in the Falkland Hills, Maisies Den is a hidden gem. Explore a magical woodland walk that leads to an enchanting waterfall you can walk underneath. Be cautious on wetter days as the path can get muddy and slippery.
Bowhouse Market, St Monans: On the second weekend of each month, the Bowhouse Market showcases local producers, live music, and even a dedicated kids' area for drawing and painting. Look out for Tayport Distillery's presence at this fantastic event.
Great Walks within the Area
Tentsmuir Forest, Tayport: Tentsmuir Forest, a stone's throw from Tayport, is a vast expanse of woodland with numerous winding trails, dirt roads, and paths. It's home to gigantic Scots Pines that inspired our Scots Pine Gin.
Fife Coastal Path, Tayport (or anywhere): Kickstart your journey along the beautiful Fife Coastal Path from Tayport, conveniently located near the distillery. You can trek the path by foot all the way to Kingsbarns and beyond, but it may take a few days to complete.
East Sands, St Andrews: Along the Fife Coastal Path, you'll discover two charming shacks, Salt and Pine at Tentsmuir Car Park, and the Cheesy Toast Shack at East Sands. Indulge in delicious treats, from crepes to indulgent cheese toasties, as you stroll along the picturesque beach.
Adults Day Out
Tayport Distillery Tour, Tayport: While the tour season is winding down, there's still some availability until the end of October. If you miss out this autumn, don't worry; we've just released tour dates from March onwards, so you can book your experience for the following year.
Balgove Steak Barn, St Andrews: Looking for a memorable date night? Head to Balgove Steak Barn, just outside St Andrews, for quality meat and locally grown potato chips. Keep an eye on their social channels for night markets and special events.
The Criterion, St Andrews: A local favorite in St Andrews, The Criterion offers delightful cocktails featuring our Malt Barley Vodka and award-winning pies. It's the perfect place to unwind and savor the flavors of the season.
Autumn in Scotland is an opportunity to experience the natural beauty, local culture, and delightful cuisine. Whether you're exploring with your family or enjoying a romantic day out, these activities promise unforgettable memories in this stunning season.
