French 75 Cocktail Recipe
A cocktail born out of WW1, consisting of gin, lemon juice, sugar and champagne. It was named after the 75 millimeter field gun which the French used during World War One.
The prohibition era became one of the world's most innovative time periods for cocktail making, of which the French 75 was a popular choice. The Savoy Cocktail Book written by David Wondrich noted these cocktail creations immortalizing them for bartenders to use for many many years.
You can find the French 75 at an early brunch, lunch with the girls or as an evening reception drink. It is a very versatile cocktail and rather refreshing with many people coming back to it time and time again.
